What is a Personal Injury?
Personal injury is the legal term for an injury or illness that has been caused by someone else’s negligence. At Barry Fitzgerald Solicitors, we are dedicated to assisting people who may have been injured as the result of an accident caused by a third party.
Can I handle the Claims process myself? Why do I need a solicitor?
In Ireland, all personal injury claims must be issued to the PIAB (Personal Injuries Assessment Board) at first, which requires specific forms to be completed and sent for assessment. This can often be a complicated process, which is why we have an experienced team on hand to handle this process for you in Barry Fitzgerald solicitors.Â
What type of injuries can be claimed for?
Personal injury accidents can occur when we least expect it. You can claim for any injury that you have suffered as a result of someone else’s negligence. This can be either physical or psychological. Accidents can happen at work or in a public place. Our expert team of solicitors will endeavour to make the process as seamless as possible for you and allow you to focus on your recovery.
How long do I have to make a claim*? Is there a time limit?
Yes, you have two years from the date the accident occurred to make a claim. This is outlined in the Statute of Limitations. This will differ for minors under the age of 18 who have two years from the time they turn 18 to process a claim.
